Rev. Al Sharpton Caught Selling His Soul…Again?

Rev. Al Sharpton: Hey, nobody owns me! Now, if you want to buy a piece of me, have cash, let’s talk….

It is with profound disappointment and disillusionment that I comment on yet another of the heirs to the leadership of Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) who has defiled his legacy.

The reprobate minister in this case is that portly, permed and cantankerous Rev. Al Sharpton who has been caught on tape allegedly bartering his moral and political inheritance for a sack of cold hard cash! And, such was the righteousness of his greed that he could be heard demanding more as he stuffed his loot into every opening of his thousand dollar zoot suit.

(At least the inspired Rev. Jesse Jackson uses the claim of black civil rights as the pretext for his shakedowns and, instead of scurrying off with wads of cash, he goes after a piece of the white man’s business which guarantees easy money for more than just a season.)

I wish I could say that this is just another attempt by the MAN to bring down one of our own – as I am sure will be Rev. Al’s eloquent, vociferous and even persuasive spin on his latest travail. But sometimes the man actually protects us from some of our own in whom we can never trust.

Maybe Rev. Al was just getting his the only way he knows how. Indeed, can anyone point to anything Al Sharpton has done to advance the cause of black civil rights in American? And, why does he remain so defiant when challenged about that Tawanna Brawley mess and being caught on camera dealing drugs?

After all, it seems that when he’s not collecting charitable contributions as the court jester among candidates for President of the United States (as was the case here), Rev. Al is either being sued by one business or another for failing to pay his bills or performing on TV for his own bread.

As it stands, FBI agents have confirmed the winding down of a probe into Rev. Al’s affairs. And, they were not interested in catching him with his pants down (as was the case with MLK); instead, they wanted to monitor how often they could catch him with his hand in the cookie jar, as it were….

Nevertheless, here’s to a new generation of black leaders, like Senator Barak Obama, who have not only the color of skin but also the content of character to redeem the legacy of MLK.
