Memorial Day is supposed to honor the dead, not kick off a weekend of sales, selfies, and slogans. This year, the contrast is even more obscene. Trump has sent Americans to war against Iran, leaving 13 US troops dead and more than 380 wounded, while folding national mourning into his Freedom 250 pageantry, UFC fantasies, and imperial vanity projects.
So yes, iPINIONS encourages you to enjoy the long weekend. But spare a thought for the dead who made it possible. Just don’t call it Happy Memorial Day.
