Washington Monument’s KKK Imagery

George Washington was a Freemason. Freemasons are big on symbols. So the top of the Washington Monument must be their most significant symbol of all.

The top of the Washington Monument looks like the hood of a Ku Klux Klansman. This was thrown into stark relief last week.

The media were covering workers repelling down the Monument. They were inspecting the damage caused by the recent earthquake.

Most people seemed mesmerized by the workers’ Cirque-du-Soleil acrobatics. But I couldn’t help noticing that KKK imagery.

And, lest we forget, Washington was a slave owner. So this is a curious thing. Because this everlasting monument to him also pays symbolic homage to the KKK.
