The most vocal of this handful is Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who has threatened to oust House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., if he works with Democrats to pass a continuing resolution that would avert a shutdown and give lawmakers extra time to pass spending bills.

The new America First Committee
Matt Gaetz is the de facto leader of congressional MAGA Republicans. As such, he’s the hitman for a modern-day version of the America First Committee.
Members of that original group were the ultra-right pro-Nazi congressmen who plotted to overthrow the US government during WWII. The only difference is that Gaetz and his co-conspirators are ultra-right pro-Russian congressmen, executing their “House Un-American Activities” in plain sight.
Indeed, what’s most remarkable is that no less a person than a former president, Donald J. Trump, is leading this new America First Committee.
It’s clear that, for them, the more disruptive their congressional stunts, the sooner America descends into dystopian and dysfunctional chaos. Because then, Trump’s Orwellian lies and Hitlerian antics would make him (or one of his demon spawn) the only suitable person to serve as president. Sick!
In the meantime, they seem hell-bent on making Speaker McCarthy roadkill – just for kicks.
