James Hewitt is Princess Diana’s former lover. But he’s defiling her reputation by insinuating that she was an adulteress who bore his child. And his only motive seems to be the money tabloids are willing to give him to peddle this insinuation.
I hasten to clarify, though, that I’m no fan of royalty. My blog is replete with commentaries denouncing it as anathema to democracy.
Frankly, the Windsors are to democracy what the Kardashians are to celebrity. Both are farcical sideshows. And the Windsors provide as much fodder for tabloids as the Kardashians do.

But there’s no denying that Hewitt’s insinuation appears to be true. Because Harry looks and behaves so much like him. Even I took Hewitt’s bait. I shared my titillating take in “Prince Harry: More Like His Mummy’s Lover than Putative Daddy.”
Of course, Hewitt has been exploiting his relationship with Diana since she died. But he’s not the only confidant who has been doing so. After all, her former butler Paul Burrell has given Hewitt a run for his money.
Hewitt is a former Army officer. But he has shown time and again that he’s no gentleman. For example, in 2003, he tried to peddle love letters Diana wrote to him for £10 million. That incited worldwide outrage and backlash.
But Hewitt’s trump card has always been his entitlement to play his Harry-Daddy card. He is even playing his part in a forthcoming play about the life and death of Princess Diana. It promises to expose many dark secrets.

Why the royal family won’t sue Hewitt
Of course, the Windsors are very litigious. They proved this two years ago when they sued a French tabloid. The tabloid had published pictures of the now-royal Kate with her still common breasts in full view.
Moreover, they never hesitate to condemn stories that sully their fairytale image. Just yesterday, they condemned a forthcoming biography of Billy Tallon. He served the queen mother for more than 50 years. So they’re preempting any dark secret he reveals.
Sure enough, the publisher is teasing many juicy tidbits. For example, Tallon claims that the queen mother was always drunk for the last 20 years of her life. And that her dementia only exacerbated her drunkenness. She died in 2002. She was 101.
But they have yet to condemn Hewitt for insinuating that Harry is his son. This, despite the implication that he cuckolded the future king.
The Firm’s PR team may have advised the Windsors that litigation is not an option. Because they can’t handle the truth, which a simple DNA test would reveal.
The PR team may have also advised them to avoid a public spat with Hewitt. The proverb, never wrestle with a pig, comes to mind.
Of course, Harry has a vested interest in living with Hewitt’s mischief-making. After all, doing so enables him to retain his royal perks and privileges. Whereas being exposed as a bastard prince would risk losing them.
Harry is also mindful that the Queen stripped his mother of her royal title. And all she did was divorce her detached and uncaring husband.
Hewitt is a venal and cold-blooded SOB for insinuating that Harry is his son. But, it says more about Diana’s fairytale marriage that he’s in the position (or entitled) to do so.
