The Bahamas Marks 53 Years of Independence Under a British King

The Bahamas celebrates 53 years of independence today with Junkanoo, flags, prayers, speeches, and patriotic pageantry. Yet the constitution still bows to a British king and the Privy Council.

iPINIONS bemoans that’s not independence fulfilled. That’s independence deferred.
