Sudanese Military generals turn on each other and conflict is causing mass migration

What Sudan Ceasefire? The Sudanese army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) reportedly extended their ceasefire. The RSF announced a “humanitarian truce” for 72 hours beginning at midnight tonight. Except that the army marked that announcement by launching an offensive against the RSF. It reportedly wants to drive the RSF out of the capital, Khartoum.… Read more.

Three Black quarterbacks drafted in top 3 of 4 picks in the NFL draft

Three Black quarterbacks made history last night. They were among the first four picks in the first round of the NFL Draft. The Carolina Panthers chose Alabama quarterback Bryce Young at No. 1 overall, as expected, 12 years after drafting quarterback Cam Newton at that spot. The Houston Texans, who took Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud… Read more.

Xi and Putin toasting while Zelensky is waving his hand

Chinese President Xi Jinping finally spoke with Zelensky today. But he only did so as a feint to help Russian President Vladimir Putin and himself. Yet everyone is reacting as if Xi offered Zelensky a credible peace plan. A plan, that is, that will make Ukraine’s looming counteroffensive unnecessary. But nothing could be further from the… Read more.

Joe Biden announces reelection campaign

President Joe Biden announced his reelection campaign today. This, despite polls showing that nearly half of Democrats don’t want Biden to run in 2024. They like Biden. They just think he’s too old. I agree. At the very least, Biden retiring would spare me the anxiety I get every time he speaks. After all, I… Read more.

Rupert Murdoch firing Tucker Carlson is like a mob boss firing a consigliere

Fox News fired Tucker Carlson today and shocked the world. Except this is the same Fox News that fired Carlson’s predecessor Bill O’Reilly. Hell, Fox even fired its co-founder Roger Ailes. And, by Fox, I’m referring to Rupert Murdoch, the wizard of Trumpism. O’Reilly and Ailes’ firing offense was creating a hostile work environment –… Read more.

Far-right Jewish persecuting Christians in Israel

Benjamin Netanyahu struck a deal with far-right Jews to become prime minister. But it’s playing like a deal with the Devil. Those far-right Jews have been persecuting everyone, including Christians That deal gave far-right Jews government power they never had. But they’re using it to turn Israeli democracy into a Jewish theocracy. That has them condoning… Read more.

Fox News settles Dominion defamation case

On Tuesday, at the eleventh hour,  Fox News settled Dominion’s defamation lawsuit. The chickens are finally coming home to roost for Fox. In this case, the chickens are the lies it peddled about the 2020 presidential election. Fox did so to entertain rather than inform its viewers. And peddling lies was good for business. So Fox peddled them religiously. One of the… Read more.

Scholastic and children buying its Harry Potter books

Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher of educational materials, including children’s books. It enjoyed a good reputation. Then it betrayed its mission. It asked an author to cut references to racism from her book before publication. The author is Maggie Tokuda-Hall (no relation). Her children’s book is Love in the Library. Here is how NPR reported on Saturday on… Read more.
