Supreme Court Decision on Guns Is Dangerous and Hypocritical

Friday, June 24, 2022 at 6:53 AM
Written by Anthony L. Hall

One ruling (on abortion rights) to bear them,
One ruling (on voting rights) to ban them,
One ruling (on gun rights) to kill them;
and in the chaos (appellate lawsuits) deny them.
In the throes of the Roberts Court where even justices lie.

Supreme Court strikes expands Second Amendment gun rights

The Supreme Court’s infamous ruling that the Second Amendment grants Americans the right to possess military-style weapons was dangerous enough. But it compounded that danger by ruling today that it grants Americans the right to carry a concealed handgun in public as casually as they carry pepper spray.

Except that the MAGA conservatives who now control the Court took pains to make clear that this ruling does not apply to “sensitive areas” … like their courtroom.

Supreme Court rulings eroding rights

In other words, just like the judicial code of conduct, which applies to all federal judges except these justices, this ruling codifies yet another version of their law-for-thee, but-not-for-we hypocrisy.

Not to mention that, in this case, their hypocrisy is compounded by the fact that, while turning all of America into a latter-day version of Tombstone (of shootout at the O.K. Corral fame), each of these justices will be enjoying around-the-clock security courtesy of U.S. Marshals.

Meanwhile, the ‘Wall Street Journal’ reported today that the law firm of record – on the winning side of this specious Second Amendment case – celebrated by “parting ways with the two star partners who won the case.”

So, like Pontius Pilot, they’re trying to wash away their guilty consciences… But there’s no washing away the blood stains of millions of Americans who will die because of the pyrrhic victory they won.
