Kamila Valieva stripped of gold medal from Winter Olympics.

Of course, that the notoriously doped-up Russians stole the Americans’ Olympic glory was bad enough. But the International Olympic Committee and the Court of Arbitration for Sport only compounded that unfairness by making the Americans wait nearly two years to resolve this matter. After all, I figured out two years ago the resolution they have finally come. IOC neutral… Read more.

Eileen Gu working with Salt Lake City to win bid for 2030 Olympics

China does not permit dual citizenship. But, like all authoritarian regimes, it is notorious for imposing rules on the masses which they allow the elites (e.g., like Putin’s oligarchs) to flout. And so it was that China permitted Eileen Gu to reap all the benefits of representing China at the Beijing 2022 Olympics without having… Read more.

Russian Skater Kamila Valieva Caught Doping. So Putin Threatens to Invade Ukraine?

Written by Anthony L. Hall

Russia state-sanctioned doping That Russia runs a state-sanctioned doping program to enhance the performance of its athletes is an open secret. I decried this phenomenon in the blog post “In Putin’s Russia Even Athletics Is a Criminal (Doping) Enterprise” on November 9, 2015.  Therefore, nobody should be surprised that Kamila Valieva has the women’s figure skating competition embroiled… Read more.

China has spent much of the past five years jailing Hong Kongers for demanding democratic freedoms. The government considers such demands seditious challenges to its authoritarian rule. Mind you, those Hong Kongers were merely demanding freedoms China promised. This, as part of the infamous “one country, two systems policy” colonial Britain negotiated as a condition… Read more.

In a stunning result, Michaela Shiffrin failed to successfully navigate more than a handful of turns in Wednesday’s women’s slalom and was disqualified from her second race this week at the Beijing Olympics. Shiffrin, a two-time Olympic champion who was expected to contend for multiple gold medals at Beijing, had trouble in her run almost… Read more.

Beijing Olympics Open Like an Internment Camp with Authoritarian Censorship…

Written by Anthony L. Hall

The Opening Ceremony for the Beijing 2022 Olympics gets underway today. But count me among those who will be jeering, not cheering. In fact, I was in the vanguard of those who called for a conventional boycott. Notably, The New York Times published an Op-Ed on March 15, 2021 by Sen. Mitt Romney titled “The… Read more.

Biden Should Threaten Olympic Boycott with Pincer Move Against Putin…

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 6:18 AM
Written by Anthony L. Hall

On Monday, President Biden was caught on a hot mic calling the White House correspondent for Fox News a “stupid son of a bitch.” Within hours, in a very un-Trumpian manner, he called that correspondent and offered a personal apology. But it seems he was still apologizing on Tuesday. Because only that explains the way… Read more.
