A Russian oligarch who barely knew Don Jr. reportedly spent hundreds of thousands bankrolling his lavish Bahamas wedding. Against decades of Trump family dealings with Russian money and Donald Trump’s deference to Putin, the episode looks less like extraordinary generosity than another chapter in a family enterprise where grift, foreign influence, and political power routinely mingle.
But, speaking as a Bahamian, I can only imagine the discomfort in Nassau when this particular spectacle washed ashore.
